Belly Dance Class Descriptions


  • Tribal Belly Dance with Pamela Luedtke:

Explore the beauty and grace of Belly Dance in this beginning class. This class deepens your awareness of your body through exploration of movements isolations, and basic steps. Posture and core strengthening will be focused on through out the session. This class will complement any level of ability and focus on the creative aspect of movement expressed through belly dance. Duration: one hour.

  • Advanced Tribal Belly Dance:

Continue to explore more complex isolations and choreography with this advance belly dance class. It is suggested that you take the beginning class for a minimum of three sessions to participate in this advance class. This class further deepens your awareness of your body through exploration of movements isolations and more advanced steps. Posture and core strengthening will be focused on through out the session. This class will focus on placement; clarity in technique and on the performance aspect of movement expressed through belly dance. Duration: one hour.

  • Workshops in Choreography Concepts
    for Belly Dance 1 and 2

 

  • Concepts 1:

Explore the beauty and grace of Belly Dance in this beginning/intermediate two-hour class. This workshop will deepen your awareness of creating dances through the form of belly dance. Choreography Concepts 1 will focus on movement concepts that are used in teaching the art form of choreography. Individuals will be introduced to ways of structuring and developing movement through a creative process of tapping into the unique expression of personal exploration. The class will also include music awareness and creating drum solos. This class will complement any level of ability and focus on the creative aspect of movement expressed through belly dance. Duration: two-Hour Workshopt.

  • Concepts 2:

Explore further the art form of choreography through group forms. This workshop will continue to provide more movement concepts aside from those explored in Concepts 1 and introduce developing movement for more than one dancer. The class will also offer individuals improvisational techniques for belly dance to enhance ones performance skills. It is recommended that participants attend Concepts 1 before attending Concepts 2. Duration: two-Hour Workshop.

Shuvani is a belly dance troupe in Stevens Point, Wisconsin

Inspired from a "How to Belly Dance" video and wearing sequined sports bras; Shuvani Tribal Belly Dance first performed in 2001 as Screaming Gypsy. Since then, working together in a Tribal style, they continue to explore the dancer of North India, Tunisia, Egypt and other cultures to create a unique blend of harmonious choreography and improvisation that often features balancing swords, candles and clay pots.  

"Part of our weekly tradition includes the kitchen table, tea and chocolate and we often rehearse with a blind dog and kids underfoot." — Shuvani

Shuvani has performed at benefits, cultural and music festivals, retreats and conferences through out Wisconsin.
